Pay as you go for the computing functions that
you need now to run your business efficiently. Choose the services
to suit your situation - email, document management, application
hosting. Change your services to suit your changing situation -
the choice and flexibility is yours. Take the worry out of buying
and managing an in house server with Your Office Anywhere's managed
service using Microsoft's SPLA licensing model.
A managed service is usually something that
is considered by large corporate's with lots of money to spend on
their I.T. systems, but a managed service provides "utility
computing" and is now available to anyone from as little as
£5.00 per user per month for a document management system.
You don't buy 1,000 gallons of water up front
for the first 6 months of a year, you pay for this as you use it.
Think of the solution as a tap - if you need more mail boxes or
more users to access documents or more users to access applications,
as you get more staff you turn the tap on and you pay for this monthly
as you consume it, if you need to decrease the number of users,
you remove the user from the system and no longer pay for his/her
license and turn the tap off.
This is completely
different from current licensing and infrastructure models. If a
server is deployed to a customers office a server is specified based
on the information the customer supplies plus the capability to
scale - if the customer doesn't meet targets or exceeds them the
customer ends up with either a server that is too powerful for their
requirements and have paid for computing power and potentially licenses
they no longer need. The opposite of this is also possible where
the solution is not scaleable enough to meet the number of users
they have unexpectedly grown to. As an example Small Business Server
has a limitation of 75 users. A hosted solution can cope with either
of these scalability issues. As an end user of the service you don't
need to worry about how busy the server is, have you got the right
number of Microsoft Client Access licenses for the application,
is the server out warranty. the worries are endless.
The applications can be accessed from anywhere
where there is a broadband connection. The system does not need
any locally installed software so applications and email can be
run from home, over a 3G connection on your laptop or even an internet
café whilst on holiday!
The customer is always correctly licensed
for Microsoft applications hosted at the data centre as this is
part of your monthly payment - we report license usage to Microsoft
at the end of each month and is a requirement as part of our license
agreement with Microsoft. Neither you or Cardium own the licenses
in effect they are leased.
The Data Centre is secure and has fire protection
and UPS backup for the servers in case of power failure. Servers
will close themselves down cleanly without loss of users data;
The Data Centre has tier 1 access to the internet
with more than one provider for internet access;
Servers are security patched and monitored
by a Microsoft Gold Partner with enterprise skills in terms of deploying
these systems for corporate clients and ensuring the patch process
doesn't break a customers application;
Servers and data is backed up to a locally to a backup server and
then this is backed up to another backup server at a different location.
All backups are held on disk which is more reliable than tape;
The solution does not need to have a server
located in the office just PC's, a firewall and internet connection,
where the PC's can be managed by a local PC support person rather
than a large company.
Easier to manage - customers are not able to inadvertently change
server configurations of SQL, VPN, exchange, backups, install additional
software that is not compatible with the core customer application
or install monthly security patches that breaks the system. The
customer will have server side support from a Microsoft Gold Partner.
Cardium should never need to visit the customer in this scenario
as problems can be replicated in our offices in Burnley by connecting
to the system in the same way the user does. In this way we can
identify whether the issue is at the server or a configuration issue
on a PC, unlike a customer owned server on their company property
where a configuration change can mean that no access to support
the system is available over the internet and a costly drive to
attend on site is required by support staff
Upgrade to latest version of a product doesn't
necessarily require costly new hardware at the customer's office
to support this. Your Office Anywhere will implement the next version
of say SQL (if this is a shared solution) and the user can manage
the transition to the new system much more easily as it is all centralised,
this enables the customer to migrate to the latest version of a
product easily. The cost to the customer is the consultancy cost
to migrate to the latest version of the application there are no
associated licensing costs so the monthly charge will be the same
from Your Office Anywhere as the customer is licensed to run on
any version of a hosted product that they are paying a monthly rental
for.
Still confused - see our FAQ's
page or call our office here and someone
will be more than happy to talk to you and explain any parts of
the solution you don't understand.
