At the end of December 2015, Your Office Anywhere made an investment in additional disk storage worth over £250,000 to provide our customers with the very latest in storage technology while continuing to offer the lowest prices in the market place.
Back in April I wrote an article about how small businesses can run their systems on enterprise level infrastructure and this investment is another great example of this. Storage systems of this calibre are normally only within reach of large corporations with massive IT budgets, yet small businesses and even one man bands paying less than £20 a month can host their servers, application and data on some of the most advanced IT technology available today.
What did we get for Christmas?
The new data storage system is an EMC VNX5400 unified storage system. This new technology provides a four-fold increase in transaction performance over previous EMC VNX systems. Currently loaded with over 73TB of fast disks and with a maximum capacity of 1000TB the new system includes:
- Over 50TB of SAS (Serial attached SCSI) disks running at 15,000 rpm to provide super-fast access to documents and data to give the best performance for hosted applications
- 18TB of Nearline SATA disks for circumstances where fast disk access is not a requirement
- 5TB of SSD (Solid State Disk) for customers who need the very fastest disk access available on the market today (RRP is in excess of £30,000 for this disk alone!)
Value for money
So, does this investment affect the prices we charge our customers? Absolutely not!
We have kept our hosting prices the same for the last 2 years running despite price increases from Microsoft and there are *currently* no price increases planned for 2016.
Cost however, isn’t everything, our customers also demand value for money which is why we continue to invest in our business whether it is for storage systems like the EMC kit described here or new servers and other infrastructure in our data centre. In addition we have also invested in our internal systems and processes, achieving ISO 27001 Information Security Management System certification last year and we continue to invest in training for helpdesk, implementation, and sales teams. How many hosting providers can boast that their entire sales team have had a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) certification?
That said, we believe we provide the best prices in the UK for hosted desktops and will beat any genuine like for like quotation. So if you’re looking for the best value in hosted desktop and hosted application solutions please get in touch, we need to pay for this thing somehow.
